The Summer Hats That Are Effortlessly Cool
Hats are a good look any time of the year, but summer is peak hat season. Adding a new hat or two is an easy way to protect your skin from the summer sun while upgrading your current wardrobe without breaking the bank. With so many hat styles out there to choose from, you may wonder which style is the best option. That’s why I rounded up the best of the best to make it easy for you to find the perfect hat this year.
Whether youβre rocking a wide-brimmed straw hat, a trendy bucket hat, or a chic fedora, thereβs something about a summer hat that lends an air of laid-back sophistication and style.
But hereβs the best part β these hats arenβt just for lounging poolside. Theyβre versatile enough to take you from beach days to rooftop parties with ease. So, if youβre ready to turn heads and make a statement this summer, let’s get into it!
The Summer Hats
Large Brim Bucket Hat
Bucket hats are the perfect accessory to elevate an everyday casual outfit. They look great with a basic white tee shirt and jeans or a loose linen dress. But I especially love the larger brim bucket hats for days at the beach or spent lounging by the pool for the sun protection they provide. In fact, I already ordered the Holiday Bucket Hat as my new beach hat.
Straw Sun Hat
Some of my favorite ways to style a straw hat in the spring and summer are with a pair of cotton or linen shorts, a loose linen button-down top, and strappy sandals. Or with a simple white dress and cute sandals for a chic, minimalist outfit perfect for warmer weather.
Cowboy Hat
Are you thinking of entering your Western era but unsure where to start? Probably the easiest way to dip your toe into the coastal cowgirl aesthetic is with a cowboy hat. Wear one with your favorite maxi slip dress and a pair of gold earrings, or let it double as your sun hat with all your vacation/beach looks.
Sun Visor
Although visors are most often associated with running or athletic sports, a straw visor is a classic summer hat that will protect you from the sun while keeping you cool. In fact, I keep my Eric Javits Visor in my car and wear it daily on my morning walks.
Oversized Straw Hat
My theory when it comes to hats in the summertime is “the bigger, the better.” Oversized sun hats are fun and glamorous but, most importantly, will completely cover and protect your face and neck. And if you get one large enough, it can shade your shoulders as well.
Broad Brim Fedora
A broad-brim fedora provides more coverage and will do a better job of keeping the sun off your face and out of your eyes.
Pair a straw fedora with light-wash jeans, a white tank top, or a button-down shirt. This casual outfit combo is timeless and will always look good with minimal effort.
Classic Baseball Cap
Because of its relaxed look and ease of wearing, the baseball cap or dad cap is a fashion staple that all fashion girls love. The rise of street style and casual fashion has helped its popularity grow. Finishing an outfit with a dad cap can take it from being too proper or stuffy to effortless, elevated casual.
Look for ones that have a washed and worn-in look. And because this hat style is pretty inexpensive, it’s easy to collect them in multiple colors or with your favorite brands or sports team logos.
Straw Bucket Hat
Bucket hats are the most casual hats you can wear, after the baseball hat. And they really suit just about everyone, making them great for everyday wear. For the ultimate summer vibes, pair your bucket hat with a flowy sundress, a swimsuit, a matching linen set, or a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
Ready For Summer Fun
I’m sure like most people, I always look forward to summer. From the longer days to the more relaxed fashion. One thing that I don’t relax on, though, is skin protection, which is just another reason why a good summer hat is a must! With so many options like bucket hats, fedoras, visors, cowboy hats, and extra-large sun hats, you can always look good without worrying about your skin.
