As summer fades and crisp mornings begin to sneak in, it’s officially time to start thinking about fall transition outfits. As Fall is my favorite season, this makes me incredibly happy. The key to dressing for this in-between season is layering lightweight staples with autumn textures—think cozy knits, structured jackets, and stylish closed-toe shoes. Whether you’re heading to brunch, running errands, or commuting to work, these classic wardrobe staples will elevate your wardrobe as we transition into cooler seasons.

10 must-have items for styling early fall transition outfits

1. Trench Coats

A timeless trench coat is the ultimate layering piece for fluctuating fall temps. Opt for a classic khaki or experiment with rich hues like olive or burgundy. It’s lightweight enough for late summer breezes but gives just the right warmth for early morning chills. Pair it with jeans and a Henley for that effortless model-off-duty vibe. If you don’t want to commit to the long length of a classic trench coat, opt for a cropped trench coat instead.

2. Suede Jackets

Suede for Fall will never be groundbreaking, but will always be a good choice. A suede jacket instantly brings in that fall texture we all crave. Soft, luxe, and slightly rugged, it’s perfect for pumpkin patch weekends or casual date nights. Wear it over a dress or with your favorite denim—it adds instant depth to any look.

3. Henleys

Henley tops are one of the most underrated essentials for transitional weather. With their button-down neckline and soft ribbed fabric, they’re the cozy cousin of the basic tee. Style them with wide-leg jeans, blazers, or under leather jackets for a layered, casual-chic outfit.

4. Leather Jackets

Nothing says fall like a leather jacket. Choose a structured moto or go oversized for that cool-girl edge. Wear one over a flowy dress or a fitted Henley and jeans. It’s bold, practical, and never goes out of style.

5. Plaid Wool Layers

From plaid wool coats to lightweight shackets, this pattern brings an instant fall mood to any outfit. Neutrals, camel tones, and muted greens work beautifully this time of year. Pair a wool plaid layer with jeans and boots for a look that screams “autumn chic.”

6. Blazers

A blazer is your go-to for smart layering. Choose wool blends or slightly oversized cuts to wear over tanks, tees, or henleys. Add denim and loafers for a polished casual look, or wear with slacks for office-ready style.

7. Denim Jackets

When in doubt, a denim jacket is a foolproof transition staple. Perfect for layering over late-summer dresses or going full-on denim on denim and ankle boots, it brings a relaxed energy that still feels put together.

8. Classic Jeans

Swap your summer shorts for a perfect pair of jeans—whether that’s wide-leg, straight, or vintage-inspired. My favorites right now are these barrel leg jeans from Pistola. Opt for darker washes to transition your wardrobe into the cooler months. Style them with Henleys, oversized blazers, or any of your favorite fall jackets.

9. Boots

From ankle boots to knee-highs, boots are the backbone of every great fall outfit. Start with lighter tones like taupe or sand before moving into darker shades as the season progresses. Pair them with skirts, dresses, and of course, your favorite denim.

10. Loafers & Mary Jane Ballet Flats

Closed-toe flats like loafers and Mary Jane ballet flats are perfect for early fall transition outfits, when it’s not quite cold enough for boots. They add a polished, feminine touch to jeans, midi skirts, or tailored trousers—and they’re walkable for all-day wear.

Final Tips for Styling Your Fall Transition Outfits

Layer smart. Start with breathable basics like Henleys or lightweight tees, then add your cozy outer layers. Keep textures and tones in mind—suede, leather, wool, and denim create dimension, while earthy and neutral colors tie everything together.

Fall is such a fun time for fashion, enjoy it before the the weather turns! But also know that I’ve also got your Must Have Winter Essentials here.

Whether you’re curating your capsule wardrobe for fall or simply updating your go-to outfits, these fall transition pieces will carry you stylishly through the season change.

The most important $27 I ever spent taught me why I overspend.

You buy something you didn’t really need. You feel amazing for about an hour. Then the good feeling quietly turns into guilt… and the little speech starts: why did I do that?

This week’s episode of the Purfect Sunday Podcast is about the emotional side of money — not budgeting or spreadsheets, the feelings underneath what and why we buy. 💛

Here’s what I learned the hard way:
→ Most spending was never about the thing. It’s about a feeling we’re trying to change — stress, sadness, boredom, loneliness, feeling invisible.

→ Breaking the cycle isn’t about white-knuckling your way through life never buying anything nice. It’s naming the emotion driving the need to shop, and putting time between the urge and the buy.

This week’s challenge: next time you feel the urge to buy something you weren’t planning on, pause before you check out and ask one question — what am I feeling right now?
  • Your life can look completely different 6 months from now if you get strict with yourself and lock-in 🔒
  • We officially have 6 months left in 2026 — and no, you are not behind.

Six months is enough time to lock in. To become the girl who drinks the water, reads the books, moves her body, takes care of her hair, skin and nails, and actually dresses like she’s the main character. Six months is enough time to glow up in any area of your life you’ve been putting off.

And here’s your reminder: money spent on your health, learning, and feeling your best — is never wasted. That’s not splurging. That’s investing in the woman you’re becoming.
Half the year is still yours. Let’s not waste it. 🤍
