Easy Ideas For An Overnight Glow Up
A significant event, a special date, or just feeling in a funk are all good reasons you may want an overnight glow-up. Really you don’t even have to have a reason to enjoy some serious self-care and to make yourself feel good.
So if you want to know how to glow up overnight, here is a list of easy ideas that will have you quickly feeling beautiful, pampered, and amazing overnight!
How To Glow Up Overnight
Body
Exfoliate
My favorite part of taking a shower is a good scrub down with an exfoliating mitt. There are multiple benefits of exfoliating, and it should definitely be included in your overnight glow-up. Exfoliating your skin will remove all the dead, dry, flakey skin cells. You’ll get a closer shave and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. Moisturizers and body products will absorb more effectively, and the increased circulation will make your skin glow. Salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, loofas, and hand mitts are some of the different skin care products that will all get the job done.
Remove Body Hair
Shaving, waxing, and epilating are options for hair removal. Nothing feels better than smooth, soft skin, and de-fuzzing your body will instantly have you feeling better. Shaving is best done on the same day as a special event for the smoothest skin possible. Waxing and epilating last longer and will give you the smoothest results. But I would caution that you test out a small patch of skin a few days before your event. Just in case your skin has a reaction.
Lymphatic Drainage
Dry brushing or lymphatic massage will help flush out waste, toxins, and extra water weight that may make you feel bloated. It’s super easy to do, only takes a few minutes, and feels so good. Really this is a ritual that can easily fit into a daily routine.
Manicure
Your level of at-home manicure will depend on your own skill level. I personally couldn’t do a good job of painting my own nails if my life depended on it. But I can cut, file, and buff my nails and instantly feel better about myself. For anyone with more skills than me, painting your nails with acrylic or gel polish is even better.
Pedicure
Soak your feet before cutting your nails, and scrub them to remove callouses. This Electric Foot Callus Remover makes the job super easy. Afterward, slather on a thick ointment like Aquaphor or Eucerin Intensive Repair Essential Oil Balm, then cover your feet with socks. If you can sleep with the socks on through the night, you’ll wake up to baby-soft feet. Here are more tips for getting your feet ready for summer.
Moisturize
Keep dry, ashy skin at bay by slathering on a thick moisturizing cream right out of the shower. There’s not much else that’s sexier than soft, smooth skin.
Eat Healthy Diet
We all know that sticking to a healthy diet most of the time has a lot of benefits. In fact, a diet full of healthy foods will positively impact your skin’s health. If you have a big event you want to look and feel your best for, eat as healthy as you can the day before. Your energy levels will be higher, and you’ll see a noticeable difference in your skin.
Hair
Massage Scalp And Brush Hair
A scalp massage is so relaxing, but it’s also so excellent for your hair’s health. Doing so exfoliates the scalp by loosening buildup and increases microcirculation for healthier hair. Try and spend a few minutes massaging your scalp both morning and night to see an increase in healthy hair growth.
Hair Mask
A good nourishing hair mask will deeply condition and hydrate your hair while restoring elasticity and strength. If you want your hair to have an overnight glow up, leave a mask in overnight for even greater benefit. In the morning, your hair will be manageable, soft, and so shiny! Using a moisturizing hair mask as part of my weekly beauty routine has helped my ends stop breaking so that my hair can actually grow longer.
Blowdry Hair
I’m unsure if anything can put a bounce in your step like the perfect blowout. And these new blow-dry brushes make it super easy to achieve gorgeous salon-quality blowouts at home. The one I personally use is the Drybar Double Shot to transform my wavy, frizzy hair into smooth, shiny, manageable hair with lots of volume.
Sleep With A High Bun
Use a thick scrunchie and sleep with your hair in a high bun or topknot to preserve your blowout or curls. This is how I sleep every night, and I never have to worry about waking up to knots, kinks, or sweaty hair.
Face
Steam Your Face
Enjoy the benefits of the spa at home and for a fraction of the price. Steaming your face will open your pores to help thoroughly remove dirt, oil, and impurities. Serums and skincare products will be able to work more effectively.
Face Mask
A face mask is such an easy way to make a big difference in a short amount of time. Depending on your specific skin type and skin needs, masks will draw out impurities, tighten pores, brighten your face, or add intense hydration.
Whiten Teeth
Teeth whitening may be one of the most noticeable ways to glow up in one night! Removing stains and whitening your teeth is a super easy way to brighten and enhance your smile in an hour. These 1-Hour Express strips from Crest are my favorite. I like using them every few months to keep my teeth bright.
Clear Breakouts
Have an annoying breakout? Hydrocolloid patches improve the look of pimples overnight without squeezing or popping them, which could make them much worse. Just put the patch over the pimple, and it will pull the gunk out while you sleep! I would recommend anyone who deals with acne breakouts add them to their skincare routine.
Drink Up
The amount of water you drink greatly impacts your health and how you look and feel. When you’re properly hydrated, you will have fewer fine lines on your face, and dark circles around your eyes will be less noticeable. If you want healthy, hydrated skin with a natural glow, try and drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily.
Smooth Lips
Use a lip scrub to gently scrub and buff away any dry flakiness from your lips, then apply a thick lip balm. You’ll wake up with smooth, plump, kissable lips.
De-Puff Eyes
Depuff your eye area at night with some hydra-gel eye patches, followed by a hydrating eye cream. Your eyes will look bright and well-rested in the morning.
Silk Pillowcase
Sleeping with a silk pillowcase will protect both your hair and your face. Because the silk glides along your skin, you won’t wake up with pillow crease marks all over your face. Over time this will also help prevent wrinkles. The silk also reduces friction on your head, so you wake up with fewer tangles and less hair breakage. Silk pillowcases are definitely more pricey, but with proper care, they will last a long time, and the benefits far outway the cost. I use these Slip Silk pillowcases on both my and my daughter’s beds.
Beauty Sleep
It’s called beauty sleep for a reason! During the night, while we sleep, our skin gets to work repairing itself. The longer you sleep, the more time your skin has to work its magic. You should aim for 8 hours of sleep a night minimum to wake up and feel rested the next morning. I recently started using the Hatch Restore Sound Machine and have seen a lot of improvement in the quality of my sleep. Here are 10 More Tips For A Good Night’s Sleep.
Stand Tall
Never underestimate the effect of practicing good posture. Standing tall and keeping your head high will make you appear and feel more confident. And confidence is the ultimate glow-up!
