The Best Bathing Suits For Different Body Types
Shopping for the perfect swimsuit is generally an activity that most women find stressful and daunting. But knowing the bathing suit style that works best for your body shape, can make shopping so much easier. I feel that loving yourself and your body is so very important. Everyone deserves to feel good in swimwear that is comfortable and stylish. But that doesn’t change the fact that not all swimsuits will be flattering on everyone. In fact, different styles and fabrics can alter your proportions and highlight your body in different ways.
Growing up in a very very conservative mountain community, we had some pretty strict rules when it came to how we dressed. Even more so when it came to what we were allowed to swim in. Honestly, I don’t know if the parents of the community came together and made these dress codes, But no one deviated from them. Until one day when I was 14, and I discovered bikinis. And so for the first time in my life, I was able to swim without a major front and back wedgie. Anyone with an extra long torso trying to fit into a one-piece suit knows the struggle.
This was my first lesson on how different bathing suit styles worked best for different body types. I’ve rounded up a list of the best swimwear, tips, and tricks, for various body shapes to make shopping for your next bathing suit so much easier.

A Few Shopping Tips
Do. Go outside of your comfort zone and then try lots of different style suits. Our bodies change, and bathing suit patterns are also constantly being updated and changed as well. So really just never know when you might find your new favorite style.
Do. When swimsuit fabric gets wet, it expands, so if you feel you’re in between sizes, go for the smaller size.
Do. When tieing your swimsuit top, tie it around your neck, then lean forward and give a little shimmy. Stand back up and then adjust your top again, making sure everything is covered. This little step can help prevent any nip slips.
Don’t choose a suit based solely on current styles and trends. It’s more important to have a swimsuit that flatters your figure than it is to have an unflattering bathing suit just because it’s on-trend.
Don’t. If you want a bathing suit that offers more coverage then find a silhouette that off provides more coverage as opposed to just buying a tiny style in a larger size. This will cause the fabric to sag and gap. And there’s nothing flattering about an ill-fitting bathing suit.
