The 15 Summer Essentials You Need in Your Life

Summer is just around the corner, and as some of you may know, it’s a season that I take very seriously. Even if I didn’t, there’s no way my kids will let summer go to waste.

So in no particular order, here’s the list of my must-have summer essentials that I can’t be without and use constantly all summer long!

The 15 Summer Essentials You Need in Your Life

Must-Have Summer Clothing

Summer Essentials - cover up dress
Kenzie Cover Up Dress

Sun Dress

A good sundress is a summertime staple that every woman should have. The lightweight, breezy material will keep you cool on hot summer days and versatile enough that you can wear it for just about any occasion.

Shorts

No matter how trends change over the years, one thing will always remain true. Nothing says summer like a pair of cut-off denim shorts. They will always be an on-trend summer staple. And once you find the perfect pair, you’ll want to wear them over and over again.

Swimsuit

It doesn’t matter if you’re in a tiny bikini or a more modest one-piece. What is important is that you’re comfortable and feel confident in whatever swimwear choice you make. L*Space and Vitamin A Swim are my two favorite swimwear brands. Although a little expensive, the comfort and quality of their suits are well worth it to me. Especially since every item I’ve bought from either brand has lasted me years.

Coverup

Having one of these on hand always comes in handy when swimming in public areas. Throw one over your swimsuit or wrap one around your waist before getting up and walking around.

Sandals

A pair of slides in the summer is probably the most effortless thing you can do to update your summer style. Whether you’re looking to invest in a classic statement sandal or slip on a pair of Havaianas, there’s a pair out there to fit any budget.

Hat

Besides the fact that hats make amazing fashion accessories, they also offer great sun protection. Just remember that those UV rays are one of the top causes of wrinkles and sunspots and make melasma worse. Keep your hat on, and your future self will thank you.

Sunglasses

I prefer shades that give main character vibes. But any good polarized pair will protect your eyes and keep you from squinting in bright light.

Summer Beauty Essentials

Summer Essentials - beauty products with SPF
Supergoop Sunscreen

Sunscreen

No one wants to deal with the discomfort and embarrassment of a bad sunburn, yet it still happens more than it should. Most of the first signs of skin aging are caused by sun damage. But you can keep your skin protected and minimize future damage by keeping up with your SPF usage.

Hair Mask

Months of dry weather, saltwater, and chlorine take a heavy toll on your hair. But a little prevention and extra can help avoid that. This is where a rich hydrating hair mask comes in. A once-a-week treatment will keep your hair strong and hydrated, leading to less breakage.

Exfoliator

You can probably tell I’m big on exfoliating if you’ve spent any time on this blog. It removes any dry, dull, scaly skin and helps reduce ingrown hairs from shaving. Your moisturizer will be absorbed more effectively, leaving skin soft, smooth, and glowing. Something we all want, especially in the summer! You can read more on exfoliation here.

Body Oil

I like lotion, but it isn’t always enough, and ashy legs are something that I just can’t stand. This can especially be a problem in very hot and dry climates. A good body oily will absorb into your skin quickly, so you don’t have to worry about it wiping off on clothes and furniture. It will also seal in moisture and keep your skin hydrated and glowing all day long. This one from Osea is the one I use daily.

Everything Else You Need

Summer and beach must-haves
Vitamin A Cover-up

Beach Umbrella

One last time with the sun protection reminder. If you’re going to be spending days at the beach, then shade is a must! Hours in the sun require extra protection, and a good umbrella will do that. Plus, it will keep the sand underneath it from getting too hot.

Beach Bag

A cotton or straw tote bag is another summertime must. Because you don’t have to worry about the bag’s material, they’re ideal for spending the day at the beach or by the pool. Toss your book, sunscreen, towels, keys, and anything else you can think of in the bag, and you are good to go. At the end of the day, all you have to do is shake it out;

Beach Blanket

Beach blankets are large enough for a small gathering of friends. But also perfect when you’re solo or with a friend wanting some sand-free space to lay out and stretch. I always keep one in the trunk of my car for impromptu picnics at the beach or park. My favorite one is from is business & pleasure co. It’s made with a center hole for umbrella or cabana poles.

Water Bottle

Remember to stay hydrated this summer (and really all year long) by keeping a reusable water bottle with you. It will help reduce plastic waste and save you some money. Win-win.

Here’s to making the most of summer!

The most important $27 I ever spent taught me why I overspend.

You buy something you didn’t really need. You feel amazing for about an hour. Then the good feeling quietly turns into guilt… and the little speech starts: why did I do that?

This week’s episode of the Purfect Sunday Podcast is about the emotional side of money — not budgeting or spreadsheets, the feelings underneath what and why we buy. 💛

Here’s what I learned the hard way:
→ Most spending was never about the thing. It’s about a feeling we’re trying to change — stress, sadness, boredom, loneliness, feeling invisible.

→ Breaking the cycle isn’t about white-knuckling your way through life never buying anything nice. It’s naming the emotion driving the need to shop, and putting time between the urge and the buy.

This week’s challenge: next time you feel the urge to buy something you weren’t planning on, pause before you check out and ask one question — what am I feeling right now?

We officially have 6 months left in 2026 — and no, you are not behind.

Six months is enough time to lock in. To become the girl who drinks the water, reads the books, moves her body, takes care of her hair, skin and nails, and actually dresses like she’s the main character. Six months is enough time to glow up in any area of your life you’ve been putting off.

And here’s your reminder: money spent on your health, learning, and feeling your best — is never wasted. That’s not splurging. That’s investing in the woman you’re becoming.
Half the year is still yours. Let’s not waste it. 🤍
