Makeup That Will Make Green Eyes Pop
Did you know that roughly only about 2 percent of the world’s population has green eyes? This makes green eyes the rarest eye color of them all. You can learn more about why green eyes are so rare here.
Because they’re so rare, many people consider green eyes to be the most beautiful, although people with this eye color are also usually viewed as mysterious. Other personality traits associated with this eyeshade are intelligence, curiosity, and mischievousness. I feel like this description has us sounding like cats.
In my family, there were four of us with green eyes. My mother had really light blue-green eyes. My younger brother and I have a darker shade that’s very similar to each other, and my little sister’s eyes started out blue but later became more seafoam green.
Did you know that no two people have the exact same shade of eye color, with the exception of identical twins? Your eye color is a unique part of you that should be celebrated, especially if you’re among the small population of people with green eyes. Whether your eyes are emerald or sage green, these makeup colors will make your gorgeous green eyes stand out.
Makeup That Will Make Green Eyes Pop
I’m all for doing whatever makes you feel your best. We all have personal preferences. There’s nothing wrong with doing what you like and sticking to what you know. But if you’re open to trying something new, you might be surprised by how much of an impact certain shades of makeup can have, especially when it comes to highlighting your gorgeous green eyes.
In general, when looking for complementary eyeshadow shades, choose contrasting colors. The color wheel is a great reference point that can help you figure out what will work best with your eye color. For example, red is directly across from green on the color wheel. Since red is the warmest color, you want to grab colors with warm tones, like shades of brown, gold, pink, and purple. Eyeshadows in these colors will make green eyes pop the most.
The finish of your eyeshadow can completely change the mood of your overall look as well. A matte brown shadow will look very nice but minimal. The same shade of brown in a shimmery finish give the same look a touch of glam. I highly recommend playing around with different finishes and textures to discover what you like the most. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Once you see it on, and see the effect it has on your eye color, you might be pleasantly surprised.
And lastly, to really make the most of your shadow, always use eyeshadow primer. Before you reach for the eyeshadow, start by applying an eyeshadow primer like this one from Benefit Cosmetics to your eyelid first. This first step creates an even base that helps brighten your eyeshadow. It also helps minimize creasing and ensures that your eye makeup will stay put throughout the day. I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t want the hassle of reapplying my makeup several times just to make it last through the day.
Warm Neutral
For a warm neutral makeup look that will make your green eyes pop, stick to the warmer shades of nude colors. The warmer the color, the greater the contrast. You can create a quick and easy daily look with a nude eyeshadow that’s anything but boring.
Shades of Pink
Remember that red is directly across from green on the color wheel, so red and pink compliments green eyes beautifully. Pink is a bit less daring than red shadow and looks stunning on green eyes. There are a ton of pink eyeshadows to choose from, ranging from bright and bold to deep or subtle. I recommend trying a few different options to see which ones work best for you.
All Shades of Purple
Pretty much all shades of purple eyeshadows will make green eyes pop. It will bring out the yellow in eyes that are more golden green and also make hazel eyes appear even greener. Try extending the shadow up and out at the outer corner of your eye, to create a sultry cat eye.
Coppery Bronze
Create mesmerizing looks with pink-toned coppery shades of eyeshadow. Rose gold is a must-have for people with green eyes. These rose gold eye shadows are my favorite for subtle glam.
Shimmery Nudes
Dewy skin is beautiful, no matter what color eyes you have. But creating a look with shimmering shades of champagne-colored makeup can really make your green eyes stand out. For a gorgeous way to highlight your eyes, try adding an even lighter shade of shadow to the inner corner of your eyes and then blend the two shades. You can also use a highlighter to achieve the same look. The key to pulling off this look is to avoid overdoing it with the lighter shade. It’s mean to elevate your whole look, not distract from the rest of your beautiful makeup.
Taupe Shadow
Every woman needs a go-to neutral color, and for many women with green eyes, the warmer tones in a taupe eyeshadow palette are perfect. Play around with different textures and try both matte and shimmer eyeshadows.
Warm Browns
A smokey eye look doesn’t have to be reserved for dressy occasions. To accentuate your green eyes, use brown eyeshadow to create a more subtle smokey eye that looks just as stunning as a bold, full-glam look. For the best results, avoid brown colors with ashy undertones and instead, look for warmer shades of brown.
Slate Gray Liner
A slate grey liner is an excellent alternative to black for a softer, less intense look. This works especially well for people with lighter green eyes and fair complexions, since black eyeliner can look too harsh.
Brown Liner
Adding brown eyeliner around your upper lash line will create the appearance of denser, thicker lashes. Additionally, applying liner along your lower lash line instead of the waterline will enhance your eye shape. Your eyes will appear larger in a very natural and subtle way. Make sure to blend your eyeliner after applying for a more natural, elegant look.
I hope you found this helpful! If you have green eyes, I’d love to know what’s your favorite makeup to make your green eyes pop!
