Summer will be here before we know it. Here in LA, the weather is back and forth, but we’ve already had some nice beach days. I’m ready for that warm weather glow-up!

Once the weather changes to warmer temperatures my makeup routine changes with it. The matte makeup I use in the colder winter months is replaced with makeup that is glowing and soft. A Dewy summer makeup look can give you a radiant glow without the hot humid weather! It’s perfect for a day at the beach, lounging by the pool, picnics at the park, or just a day out running errands. In this post, I’m sharing with you my top 10 beauty products and tips to achieve that perfect dewy summer skin.

Dewy Summer Makeup Look in 10 Steps

Step 1. Exfoliate

One of the secrets to a perfect dewy summer glow is exfoliating. Regularly exfoliating your face either with a physical exfoliator like this one from Dermalogica, or these peel pads by Dr. Dennis Gross helps to remove any dry skin patches and will keep your skin bright and fresh.

Step 2. Hydrate

Hyaluronic Acid is a lightweight serum that draws moisture into your skin, leaving it more plump and dewy. A little tip is to always apply it while your face is slightly damp.

Step 3. Under Eye Cream

Using a good under-eye cream is an important step to never skip. Find one that addresses any of your concerns such as dark circles, puffiness, or fine lines. It will help keep the area moisturized throughout the day which is key for preventing a dry crepey under the eye and flakey makeup. I use Caffeine Solution by the Ordinary to help with any puffiness and Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream by Sheseido to help with moisture and prevent fine lines.

Step 4. Tinted Moisturizer

A tinted moisturizer can give you some color and even out your skin without the look of heavier makeup. Use a foundation brush to apply a light layer of tinted moisturizer over your face and neck.

Step 5. Cream Blush

Swap your powder blush for a cream blush that will give you a rosy glow. Swipe it across your cheekbones and either uses your fingers to dab it in or a buffing brush to blend it. I also like to apply a small smudge to my nose for a rosy flush.

Step 6. Bronzer

The same as above, use a cream version of your favorite bronzer. Apply a small amount right below your cheekbones, along your jawline, and above your temples. Use a buffing brush or damp beauty blender to blend it in well.

Step 7. Highlighter

There are so many choices when it comes to highlighters! From pearlescent, rose gold to gold. Cream to liquid. When choosing one for yourself, pick one that compliments your skin tone, and for this summer makeup look choose a cream or liquid. Apply the highlighter along your upper cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and the inner corner of the eyes. Use your fingers or a damp beauty blender to blend it in.

Step 8. Brows & Mascara

Fill in your brows with a waterproof pencil that won’t smudge throughout the day. Then apply a few layers of waterproof mascara. Keeping your eye makeup simple helps ensure you don’t have to worry about smudged eye shadow or eyeliner in warmer humid weather. It also allows the focus to remain on your dewy skin.

Step 9. Set Makeup

Use this lightweight formula as the final step in your makeup routine. It will help your makeup stay put through the day, especially if you have oily skin. Hold the bottle 6 to 8 inches away from your head and spray the product over your face. Let it sit for a minute to dry and you’re done!

Step 10. Lip gloss

Lastly use a lip balm or lip gloss. You can use a clear one or choose whatever your favorite shade of the moment is to finish off your look!

The most important $27 I ever spent taught me why I overspend.

You buy something you didn’t really need. You feel amazing for about an hour. Then the good feeling quietly turns into guilt… and the little speech starts: why did I do that?

This week’s episode of the Purfect Sunday Podcast is about the emotional side of money — not budgeting or spreadsheets, the feelings underneath what and why we buy. 💛

Here’s what I learned the hard way:
→ Most spending was never about the thing. It’s about a feeling we’re trying to change — stress, sadness, boredom, loneliness, feeling invisible.

→ Breaking the cycle isn’t about white-knuckling your way through life never buying anything nice. It’s naming the emotion driving the need to shop, and putting time between the urge and the buy.

This week’s challenge: next time you feel the urge to buy something you weren’t planning on, pause before you check out and ask one question — what am I feeling right now?
  • Your life can look completely different 6 months from now if you get strict with yourself and lock-in 🔒
