How To Style Cowboy Boots For Every Occasion
Nothing beats a good pair of boots! I own several pairs of boots, but cowboy boots will forever have a place in my heart. For many people, myself included, cowboy boots are timeless. However, thanks to the latest fashion trends, cowboy boots are getting a little more (much-deserved) attention.
One of the many things I love about cowboy boots is their ability to breathe new life into your everyday outfits. Given my love of cowboy boots and the fact that western boots are all the rage right now, I’m dedicating this post to them. Here are all the ways you can style cowboy boots, complete with several outfit ideas, and give them a modern twist.
How To Style Cowboy Boots
Replace Sneakers With Boots
For an effortless, understated way to wear cowboy boots, think about some of the outfits that you usually wear with sneakers. Mix things up by wearing a pair of ankle or calf-high cowboy boots or western booties. Keep it casual with neutral colors like brown or black.
Pair Cowboy Boots With A Dress
If you’re heading out on the town, slip into a saucy dress and mix things up a bit by opting for a pair of cowboy boots instead of heels. You’d be surprised how good cowboy boots look with brightly-colored maxi dresses, sweater dresses, and even LBDs.
Feel free to go bold with your boots, especially if you’re wearing a solid-colored dress. Try a flashy pair of western-style boots like these, or go for a pop of color with a pair like these for maximum impact.
Street Style Aesthetic
Street style is essentially trendy, elevated, everyday clothing inspired by the most fashionable supermodels and influencers. Think of it as an outfit that looks effortless but also on point.
To achieve the street style aesthetic with cowboy boots, pair them with a loose or wide-legged pair of trousers and an oversized sweater or leather jacket. If you’re wearing jeans with cowboy boots, opt for looser fit jeans, and then add a simple top. I can personally vouch for these boyfriend jeans. They’re my favorite pair!

Denim Shorts With Cowboy Boots
Ignore anyone who tells you that you can’t wear boots in the summer. This outfit is one of my favorite summer looks. I wear my white knee-high boots every chance I get. If you can’t grab a pair in your size, these boots are just as fabulous.
Jean shorts and tall cowboy boots are practically a match made in heaven. My go-to pair of denim cut-offs is the 501 Original Short from Levi’s. A neutral top, like a lightweight sweater, keeps this look casual and on-trend.
Calf-High Boots With A Slip Dress
I love the look of calf-high boots worn with a slip dress. You really can’t go wrong with this boots outfit. It’s flattering on all body types. Plus, you can add a loose sweater with a belt at the waist for colder weather.
Go with a black silk slip dress and mix things up by wearing it with a pair of white cowboy boots. I love this look!

Black Blazer With Black Cowboy Boots
Like cowboy boots, mom jeans are having a moment in the fashion trends spotlight. Wearing them together can convince even the most stubborn, eye-rolling teenager that you are, in fact, a cool mom.
This timeless outfit is one of my favorites to wear any time of the year. A chic black blazer, or oversized blazer, over a white tank is a statement piece that instantly elevates this entire look. They go great with a pair of loose-fit jeans. These mid-rise loose-fit jeans are unbelievably comfortable. If mom jeans aren’t your style, this outfit works just as well with straight-leg jeans and skinny jeans. And, of course, don’t forget a pair of black Western-inspired boots.
All-Black Outfit With Knee-High Cowboy Boots
An all-black outfit is great for days when you’re having a hard time putting pieces together. A pair of high-quality black leggings with a black sweater is perfect for practically any occasion. Black knee-high cowboy boots streamline this monochromatic look.
Mini Sweater Dress With Cowboy Boots
Tall cowboy boots look great with a mini dress, like this black sweater dress. If, like me, you like wearing brown and black together, go with a pair of taupe boots like these tall Western boots.
On cold days, you can easily throw on a coat or scarf for added warmth.
