Winter Beauty Haul- What I Bought And Why
As a person who thinks of Sephora as their happy place, walking in there with a specific list of things to buy is kinda tough. But I’m really working on being more mindful of what brands and products I buy. And really just spending less money in general. So these are the beauty products I bought this winter, and why I felt they were good buys.
Winter Beauty Haul- What I Bought And Why
100% Pure Argan Oil
It’s been my goal to grow my hair down to my waist for years. But with all the different hair struggles I’ve had through the years, it’s never happened. However, since I stopped highlighting my hair and started taking thyroid medication my hair has been much healthier. As it’s growing longer though, I’m noticing the ends are getting drier.
I bought the Pure Argan Oil from Josie Maran because I wanted a lightweight oil that wouldn’t leave my hair looking greasy. I also wanted it to be free of any silicons and fragrances. Almost every day I put 2-3 drops of oil in my palms and rub them together. I then smooth my hands through the bottom half of my hair, really concentrating on the ends. Since I’ve started doing this, my ends don’t look or feel as dry and I’m noticing less breakage when I brush my hair.
The Body Wash
This is my second bottle of The Body Wash From Nécessaire. I bought it the first time around because I love the Sandalwood scent. But I wasn’t sure if that would be enough for me to buy it again. But after using the entire bottle I felt different.
This body wash is a gel-oil cleanser, that lathers to a rich foam. It rinses off leaving your skin feeling very hydrated without any type of leftover residue. And because a little bit goes a long way, the bottle lasts a long time.
The Body Exfoliator
I’ll admit that The Body Exfoliator from Necessaire was an impulse buy. But since I’m so in love with the body wash I figured why not give it a try.
I’ve used the scrub a couple of times now, but don’t have any strong feelings about it. I bought the fragrance-free bottle although I’m sure the sandalwood smells good. And since the recommendation on the bottle is to use only twice a week, it might be necessary to use it a bit longer before really noticing a difference in your skin.
Undaria Algae Body Oil
I’ve heard good things about this body oil for a long time, but I had a hard time justifying the price, so I never bought it. Last year before I started taking thyroid medication I gained almost 15 pounds. It took almost six months of adjusting my medication until my prescription was right for me. However, that extra weight has been extremely stubborn and is just now starting to come off. I noticed my skin was starting to look crepey, especially in my stomach area. I wanted to do whatever I could to help minimize that, which is when I bought this body oil.
Since I started using the Undaria Algae Body Oil a few weeks ago I’ve noticed big improvements in my skin. Most of the crepey skin on my stomach is gone now, and overall looks much firmer. One of my favorite things about this oil though is that it quickly absorbs into your skin, without leaving a greasy mess. Your skin is left feeling super moisturized and nourished, with a fresh citrusy scent. Despite the price, I think that it’s going to be a permanent addition to my beauty must-haves.
Overtime Mask
Since the weather has cooled down, I’ve been spending a lot more time inside with the heat on. And that warm dry air is taking a toll on my skin. Since my face has been dry and rather dull looking, I wanted to try a new exfoliating product to bring back a healthy glow. My skin has always reacted well to exfoliating products with pumpkin as an active ingredient. So when I saw this Over Time Mask from Summer Fridays I thought I’d give it a try.
So far, after having used it a few times, I feel like my pores are less congested, my skin tone is looking more even, and overall more luminous.
Cryo Dual Roller
Whether it’s from food allergies, late nights, crying spells, or too much salt, I deal with puffy eyes pretty often. Ice rollers and gua sha have been the two main tools I use to depuff my face. I’ve bought several ice rollers before from Amazon and other random places but they really were nothing to write about. One started leaking the first time I used it and had to be tossed. The others never felt truly cold, nor did they hold their temperature for more than a minute.
I decided to try the Cryo Dual Roller from BeautyBio this time. It was definitely more expensive than any other roller I bought, but so far has been completely worth it. The professional-grade stainless steel retains its ice-cold temperature long enough to properly chill and depuff your face. I also really like that the small roller is the perfect size for the eye area, and the broader side for your cheeks, jawline, and neck.
Eyes To Mesmerize Cream Eyeshadow
I bought two of these cream eyeshadows from Charlotte Tilbury for myself. Pillow Talk and Walk Of No Shame. The colors are so beautiful and feminine, with just a slight amount of shimmer. It only takes seconds to dab on with the tip of my finger, and these pink and bronze shades really compliment my green eyes. I love them so much that I bought the Amber Gold eyeshadow for my daughter who has blue eyes.
Lipstick
I wanted to switch out my normal lipstick shade with something darker for the winter season. Really I chose this one because Nars is one of my favorite vegan brands. I also like the shade which is a neutral plum brown with a glossy satin finish almost like. It almost looks like a lipgloss without the sticky consistency and it goes on pretty sheer so it’s not too dramatic.
MakeUp Eraser Set
The last thing I bought was a pack of The Original MakeUp Erasers. They make it super easy to remove makeup, especially along my hair and jawline without getting the whole countertop wet. I appreciate no longer staining my white washcloths with makeup, they’re also machine washable, so there’s no waste.
Well, that’s it for what I bought this winter. But I’d love to know what your winter beauty essentials are! Let me know down in the comments below.
