Everyday Makeup in 5 Minutes
We all have days where we’re running out of time and have to get out the door fast. Whether it’s kids, work, or a last-minute engagement, it’s important to have a quick makeup routine. And although I can always run out the door without makeup on, I usually prefer to be a little more put together. No one needs to know how little sleep I got last night!
For me to get my everyday makeup done in 5 minutes, I keep things simple and natural. This is not the time for a full face of makeup!
Always start out with a clean well-moisturized face. Dry or dehydrated skin will make you look more tired and makeup will have a harder time going on smoothly.
Everyday Makeup in 5 Minutes Routine
Start By Using An Under-Eye Concealer
My everyday make up look starts with hiding the dark circles under my eyes. I use Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector in medium deep. I always start out applying it with a concealer brush but then finish by dabbing it with a damp beauty blender until it’s fully blended. This under-eye corrector is literally the best thing I have ever found to hide and erase dark under-eye circles. I’ll never go without it again and I’ve recommended it to most of my friends.
Next, I Use Smashbox Halo Healthy Glow Moisturizer
I love it when I find a makeup product that helps make my skincare routine easier. This is one of them. It’s lightly tinted and SPF 25. That means you get sun protection and light coverage that just evens out the skin tone on your whole face and neck. It blends in easily and a little goes a long way. You can easily use your fingers to apply it, but I prefer to use this foundation brush from Bobbi Brown. Also, for women with a darker complexion like myself, finding makeup that matches your skin tone without making it look like you have a layer of dust on your face can be a challenge. Especially if there’s SPF in the product. After testing many different brands out, this is my winner that I’ve used and replaced with new tubes many times now over the last few years.
After The BB Cream Is Blended In, I Lightly Dust Under My Eyes, With Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
This stops the the other layers of makeup from settling into your creases. You can also use a large powder brush to apply a light dusting of powder to your forehead and chin area to help minimize shine. This is especially helpful if you have oily skin..
Next Up Is Benefit Hoola Bronzer
With a large brush swipe bronzer on your lower cheekbones, along your jawline to help create a more chiseled face, and on your temples and hairline. Start with a light hand and build up if you feel you need more. Just be sure to blend it all in well so there are no harsh lines!
After The Bronzer Is Blush
I’ve used this Nars Blush in Orgasm for years. I’ve switched to other shades and brands many times, but I always come back to this. At some point I’ll stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Anyways, sweep the blush on the apples of your cheeks, and lightly dust your nose and forehead. I love blush, without it my face just feels flat.
Now We Get To The Brows
I use Benefit’s Precisely, My brow Pencil in shade 3.75. Lightly outline the bottom of your brows, then along the top. With small strokes fill in any gaps or sparse areas then use a spoolie brush to blend it all in so that there are no harsh lines. After you can use a brow gel to help them hold their shape.
Moving On To The Eyes
Although I love full eye makeup and have a favorite eyeshadow palette I use when I have more time, when I’m in a rush I skip eyeliner and shadow and just do a couple of coats of mascara. Start by quickly curling lashes, then apply a lash primer. I wasn’t sold on primers until I came across this one, Marc Jacobs Velvet Lash Primer. With just one layer it completely coats your lashes in white which makes it very easy to see if you missed a spot.
It looks a little scary, but it adds serious volume and beautifully separates your lashes making it super easy to apply your mascara. And for that I use Dior Show Waterproof mascara. When applying mascara, be sure to get the wand all the way to the base of your lash lines. This helps define your eye shape and makes your lashes look fuller. If time permits I’ll do a second coat, just to be a little extra.
To Finish Everything Off, I Swipe On Nars Afterglow Lip Balm In Dolce Vita.
The last step of my everyday makeup routine is to quickly swipe on some lip gloss. Right now this one from Nars is my go-to. It’s super hydrating with just a tint of color. I never leave the house without one!
Writing this all down, it seems like a lot. But I promise once you get it all down it becomes automatic and you won’t have to waste time thinking about what you need to do next and with which product. Everyday makeup in 5 minutes (or less) is totally doable!
